Brad is a well-known British Columbia based wildlife photographer famous for his bear photography in particular, his workshops and his gear reviews known for their depth and lack of bias. In this episode, Brad and I focus on the new Nikon gear just out including the Z7, the wonderful but expensive Nikon 180-400 mm lens and the Nikon 500 mm f/4 PF lens. Brad has extensively tested the Z7 and shares his findings. We discuss the 180-400 briefly, but there is an extremely extensive review on his website www.naturalart.ca Both of us have the 500 PF on order, but neither of us has received one yet. So, our discussion is limited to the known specs and the observations of others but is nevertheless pretty extensive. We’ll come back to that lens when we both have one in hand and have had some experience with it.

If you’ve never been to Brad’s website, you’re in for a real treat. The quality of his wildlife images is just breath taking. Not a word I use lightly I assure you. Each photo is accompanied by field notes that explain how he got the shot, his Behind the Camera notes provide metadata for the shot and other technical details and his At the Computer notes describe his post processing. A lot to be learned here.
